State Triples Winners Decided

The State Triples finals were played at Finley Bowling Club on excellently prepared greens.

After winning their respective semi finals, Loris Houlihan (skip), Yvonne Clark both of Numurkah Golf along with Jenny Warfe of Cobram took on the Tocumwal Golf trio of Leigh Hansen (skip), Cheryl Townsing and Effie Eaton. It was a closely fought game with the Tocumwal trio being the victors 24/9.

Previously, in the semi-finals Loris Houlihan’s team had defeated the team of Nan Smith, Fiona Rourke and Tracey Miles 15/11, and Leigh Hansen’s team had defeated their Tocumwal team mates Heather Tabe (skip), Sue Hodge & Sheila Kufner 15/12.

The men’s semi finals saw the Cobram boys skipped by Braidon Johnson with Dane Gade and Andrew Giblin, defeat the Wunghnu team of Ray Hill (skip), Michael Williams and Alan Jones 18/11. The other semi final pitted Barry Cosgrove (skip), Joe Luci and John McKenzie against the Barooga Sports team of Gary Murnane (skip), Jim Townsing and Peter Velardo, with Cosgrove’s team coming out victors 25/17.

In the final Barry Cosgrove’s team came home strongly to defeat Braidon Johnson’s Cobram team 25/6.
