Region State Events

On the final day of the Goulburn Murray Region State Events held at Strathmerton, two of the four events were won by the Murray Playing Area representatives.

The Champion of Champions Pairs was played between the Barooga Sports pair of Ian Smethurst and Geoff Mitchell, and the Seymour VRI pair of Jet Wyatt and Michael Szczykulski. It was a tightly fought match over the 15 ends, with the final score being 15/10 in favour of the Barooga Sports pair.

In the Mixed Pairs the Cobram pair of Ray Parks and Jenny Warfe had a battle with the Shepparton Park pair of Paul Nichols and Kate Bush. The final score was 14/13 to Ray and Jenny.

In the other matches David Daws of Tallygaroopna played a masterful game to defeat Paul Glanvill of Berrigan 25/10 in the Champion of Champion Singles, and Ann Milkins and Jenny O’Connor of Numurkah went down 16/4 to the Hilltop pair of Dianne Downie and Jeanette Overall in the Champion of Champion Pairs.
