State Triples Finals

The State Triples finals were played at the Finley Bowling Club in hot and humid conditions on excellent greens.

The women’s semi finals saw Linda Isted defeat Bev Hutchins on an extra end, 22/18. The other semi final was a win to Loris Houlihan over Marj McDonald 18/13.

In the final the team of Loris Houlihan and Ieva Saunders of Numurkah Golf & Bowls along with Jenny Warfe of Cobram Bowls Club, were too strong for the rink of Linda Isted and Jenny O’Connor from Numurkah Bowls Club and Yvonne Clark of Numurkah Golf and Bowls Club. The final result being 17/8.

In the first men’s semi final Barry Cosgrove defeated Graeme King 15/11. The other semi final saw Ray Hill defeat Lou Richards 17/14.

The final was almost an all Wunghnu shoot out. Barry Cosgrove and John McKenzie of Wunghnu Bowls Club combining with Joe Luci of Numurkah Golf and Bowls Club, were too strong for the Wunghnu team of Ray Hill, Mark Shelton and Ivan Newby, winning 22/13.
