Men's State Triples winners: Warren Snow, Peter Lawer & Greg Barr from Katandra West Bowling Club
State Triples Decided
Both the Men’s and Women’s State Triples finals were played today.
In the Men’s final played at Strathmerton, the Katandra team of Peter Lawer, Warren Snow and Greg Barr were too strong for the Strathmerton team of Wayne McGregor, Greg Sutton and Colin Matthes, finishing with a 17/10 win.
In the semi-finals Katandra had defeated Dane Gade’s Numurkah Golf trio 21/11, and Strathmerton had defeated John Dixon’s Cobram trio 20/16.
The women’s games were played on the excellently prepared Finley greens. The Numurkah Golf team of Lidija Patching, Robyn Hodgkin and Maree Luci had a convincing win over the Barooga Sports team of Cheryl Merrett, Ruth Burnett and Frances Thatcher, with a final score of 27/10.
In the semi-finals the Numurkah Golf team had defeated the Numurkah trio skipped by Ann Dealy 22/9. The other semi-final was a play off between two Barooga Sports teams, with the final end having to be replayed due to a dead end. The eventual winner was Cheryl Merrett’s team, who had a 19/14 win over Liz Ewing’s team.
