State Finals Decided

The State Singles were played over three Sundays. The first two weeks were played at the Numurkah Golf & Bowls Club and saw the completion of the Ladies finals. However, due to the pleasing number of entries the Men needed an extra week to complete the draw. This was played at the Cobram Bowls Club to coincide with the playing of the Champion of Champions finals – a bonus for the spectators.

The final was played between Mark Jones of the Numurkah Golf & Bowls Club and Matt Hansen from the Berrigan Community Bowling Club, with the final result going Mark’s way 25-12.

In the semi-finals Mark had defeated Chris Philpot of Barooga Sports Bowls Club 25-10, and Matt had defeated Luke Spargo of Numurkah Golf & Bowls Club in a close 25-22 match.

The Ladies final was a marathon between Kerry Baldacchino of Cobram Bowling Club and Katrina Glover of Numurkah Golf and Bowls Club. Kerry was the eventual winner 25-18.

In the semi-finals Kerry had defeated Jenny O’Connor of the Numurkah Bowls Club 25-11, and Katrina had defeated Pam Smith, also from the Numurkah Bowls Club, 25-22.
