Murray dominate Women’s Novice Singles

The Goulburn Murray Region Women’s Novice Singles, which was played at Shepparton Park Bowls Club, came down to a shoot out between the Murray Playing Area women, in particular those from the Tocumwal Golf and Bowls Club.  Novice events are open to bowlers who have not previously been affiliated with any bowling club before May 1st two years prior to the current season.

The first semi-final saw Cheryl Mears of Tocumwal defeat Cheryl Barnes from Finley Bowls Club 21/13, and the second was between another two Tocumwal women with Rebecca Dungan defeating Mary Gierveld 21/15.

In the final Rebecca played some wonderful bowls to come out victorious over Cheryl Mears 21/3.

Congratulations to all our up and coming women who represented the area so well. Rebecca will next play the winners from the other 15 regions in the State at Mulgrave Country Club on Sunday 12 February 2023. We wish her well.
