Cobram Win Three out of Five
Berrigan Community Bowling Club hosted the Murray Playing Area finals on one of the hottest days of the season. The many spectators witnessed some spectacular bowling on excellently prepared greens. Cobram Bowls Club finished the season well, with teams in the grand final in four of the possible five divisions, and coming home with three premierships. All games were played in great spirit and camaraderie and were a wonderful testament to the game of bowls.
The clubs which celebrated victory were Cobram, Picola and Numurkah Bowls Clubs.
Division 1 was a repeat of last year’s final. Unfortunately for Wunghnu, they were unable to change the outcome, the final result seeing Cobram come out victorious 63/56.
The Division 2 game was a close match all day with the final result being decided on the last bowl. The final outcome was victory to Cobram over a valiant Finley 60/59.
Division 3 saw Picola have an easier time, coming out winners over Barooga Sports 71/57.
Division 4 saw Numurkah fight off a come back by Cobram to win 46/41.
Division 5 was another tightly fought contest with only a one shot difference at the end of play. Cobram managed to hold out Berrigan to win 40/39.
