Champion of Champion Pairs

The Murray Playing Area Champion of Champion Pairs have been decided.

In the Ladies final Ann Milkins and Jennifer O’Connor from the Numurkah Bowls Club played Ruth Burnett and Heather Crosthwaite from Barooga Sports Bowling Club. The scores were neck and neck throughout the game, with Ann & Jennifer edging ahead to claim victory 13-10.

In the semi-finals the Numurkah pair had defeated Jenny Warfe and Kerry Baldacchino of Cobram Bowling Club 18-13, and the Barooga Sports pair had received a forfeit from the Berrigan pair of Glenys McKay and Elaine Hawkins.

Barooga Sports was also represented in the Men’s final, when Ian Smethurst and Geoff Mitchell played the Numurkah Golf & Bowls pair of Geoff Sutcliffe and John Spargo. It was a game of two halves, which saw the Numurkah Golf pair come back from 3-19 down after the seventh end, to a more respectable 17-20 loss at the completion of the match.

In the semi finals the Barooga pair had defeated Peter and Jack Hutchins from the Nathalia Bowls Club 18-8, and the Numurkah Golf pair had defeated Rick Bradbury and Matt Hansen of Berrigan Community Bowling Club in a very close 15-14 match.
