State 60 & Overs Singles

The winners of the 60 & Over Singles were decided this week. The men’s match was played at Barooga and the Women’s at Tocumwal.

After a slow start Lidija Patching of Numurkah Golf & Bowls Club was victorious over Heather Tabe of Tocumwal Golf & Bowls Club 21/16. In the semi finals Lidija had defeated Leigh Hansen of Tocumwal Golf & Bowls Club 21/7, while Heather had defeated Pam Smith of Numurkah Bowls Club in a close 21/19.

The Men’s final saw Ross Higgins of Numurkah Bowls Club overcome John Dixon of Cobram Bowls Club 21/9. In the semi-finals Ross had a very tight match against Doug Larkin of Wunghnu, the final score being 21/20, while John had defeated Ian Smethurst of Barooga Sports 21/14.

Lidija will now play Kate Bush, and Ross will play Ashleigh King, in the Region finals on Wednesday 8 February at Shepparton Golf Bowls Club. The winners of those matches will proceed to Bendigo to play against the other 15 Region winners.
