Murray well represented at State Over 60 Finals

The State Over 60 Finals held at Bendigo Bowls Club provided three days of high class bowling. The Goulburn Murray Region was well represented by Murray players in the Men’s Pairs and both Singles events.

Both Lidija Patching and Barry Cosgrove won their way into the Singles finals, but were unable to win that final match.

Lidija played Judy Nardella of Metro West, a past winner of the event in a very entertaining game. Final score being 21/12 to Judy. Along the way Lidija had defeated Margaret Brandhoj of Gippsland 21/12, Alison Hall of Yarra 21/1 and Lynne Wood of Sandbelt 21/18.

Barry played Tom Ristic of Yarra, last year’s winner in a tight tussle. Ristic prevailed 21/16. In previous rounds Barry had defeated Garry Sanders of Ovens & Murray 21/9, Wayne Parks of Strzelecki 21/10 and Bruce Morley of Bendigo Campaspe 21/20.

Barry also played in the Mens Pairs with Joe Luci, and they were able to reach the semi-finals, where they went down to the Bendigo Campaspe duo of Ian Ross and Rodney Pearce 17/13. They had previously defeated Van Haastert and Cerreto of Sandbelt 18/9, and Pyers and Cahill of Metro West 17/8.
